E-Learning Statement: We believe that there are endless opportunities to learn with the help of/ via the medium of technology; and we would like to elaborate on the following areas: Communication- Web 2.0 applications as well as email can enable students to communicate with students from other schools in the target country or in other English speaking countries. It also allows for more efficient and timely communication with peers and the teacher out of school hours. Group work- Blogs and wikispaces facilitate group activities and projects in and out of school; students can build on each others knowledge, learn team-work and be assisted by the teacher without the necessity for face-to-face contact. Authenticity- Having access to websites and Youtube allows students to see another culture or country as it stands now, not from an outdated textbook and in short, succinct images. It allows English and History students greater access to resources and can highlight the relevance of the information learned as well as 'bringing it to life'. Self-paced Learning- Technology allows students to work at their own pace; teachers can provide activities on websites to support advanced learners or learners who need to consolidate further. Websites which have grammar exercises and self-marking are especially useful also for teacher time-management.
